H1N1 Flu Helpline – India

The ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has taken up various initiatives to tackle the H1N1 Flu in the country. As one of the step the ministry has opened a country wide Help line number 011 - 23921401 specially focused to help H1N1 flu victims and to avoid spreading to others.

So "If you have traveled from a country that has been affected by the H1N1 flu and show symptoms live Fever, Cough, Sneezing, Sore Throat or Difficulty in Breathing call the outbreak monitoring cell, National Institute of Communicable Diseases on the number 011...

Countries that have been affected by the H1n1 Influenza A virus are Argentina, Austria, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China,Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Cyprus , Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, EI Salvador, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, Republic of Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovokia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, USA, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam (as per WHO update 5th June 2009).

The government of India also advises people to defer non essential travel to the affected countries, the list of affected countries is being constantly updated on www.who.int and www.mohfw.nic.in
